Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus Review: It Hits the Sweet Spot!

    Published on

People have been asking me which of the Galaxy S25 models should they get. The base variant, the plus, or the ultra? I think I have my winner here.

I’ve been using all three Samsung Galaxy S25s since they were delivered after I pre-ordered them. The base variant might be too small for some and can cause hassle in the longer run because of its smaller battery, while the ultra doesn’t justify the price tag of 1,300 bucks.

So, we are left with the sweet spot of under $1000 with the S25 Plus.

Overall, it’s a great phone, and I like it the most out of the three. Why do I like it the most? This is exactly my point of interest for today. I will walk you through what I like the most about it and some of the things that are lacking in this latest Samsung flagship phone.

So, without much ado, let’s talk about that in detail.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Brings on the Heat

Speaking of the performance, it’s the same as that of the base S25, which is phenomenal.

Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the S25 handles demanding tasks like a breeze. Coupled with the 12 gigs of RAM on the Plus model, multitasking is great on the device.

It ensures smooth transitions between apps and the app background usage doesn’t hinder the overall performance. Even during prolonged use, the phone remains responsive and lag-free.

I tried to put it through a stress test by editing videos, playing heavy multiplayer games, and multitasking, but it hasn’t missed a beat. I regularly play multiplayer games like Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile with my friends on Discord, which runs in the background.

The powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, combined with the reliability of my Xfinity Internet connection, made my gaming experience smooth like butter. You can contact Xfinity customer service to find out more about their fast, reliable, and affordable internet plans.

Samsung S25 Plus also supports the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology, along with tri-band support, which is great to use with fast internet connections.

All in all, if you’re looking to upgrade your phone merely for performance, the S25 Plus is a great pick.

Almost the Same Cameras as Last Year

Now, let’s talk about the cameras. Spoiler alert: Once again, it is exactly the same as that of the base variant.

Starting with the specs, the Galaxy S25 Plus features a triple-camera setup: a 50MP main shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

Not to forget, it has a wide 12MP front camera for your selfies, group selfies, and Zoom meetings.

In well-lit conditions, the main camera captures detailed and vibrant images. However, in low-light scenarios, it struggles to maintain clarity, and the photos from ultra-wide lenses have noticeable noise.

The telephoto lens performs adequately with good lighting, but as soon as the light is low, its performance follows a downward trajectory. Portrait shots are commendable, with effective background separation.

I don’t think that the S25 Plus is the right choice (especially not with this price tag) if you need a photography powerhouse.

Same Great Display and Design, but Refined

This is where the Galaxy S25 Plus shines the most. I am in love with this screen as it has a big, vibrant display for content consumption, gaming, reading articles, and more.

It is a 6.7-inch display with more pixel density than that of the base variant, 513 pixels per inch to be precise. It has a 120Hz variable refresh rate, that is smooth and efficient at the same time. The best things about this display are its pixel density, and the 91.8% screen-to-body ratio, which is impressive.

Let’s talk about the design: it is both sleek and comfortable to hold. Its rounded corners make it easy to hold, and the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back exudes a premium feel. The Dynamic AMOLED display is one of the key features of the Galaxy S25 Plus, offering sharp, bright visuals with accurate colors.

With a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels and narrow bezels, the display provides a smooth and immersive experience. The Galaxy S25 Plus is a great choice if you consume a lot of content on your phone.

Charging and Battery Trumps the Base S25

Battery life is impressive on the Galaxy S25 Plus, and it might be the reason to get this one rather than the base variant, which comes with a 4,000 mAh battery.

For me, the 4,900mAh battery easily powers through a full day of heavy use, including gaming, streaming, and browsing. Another part of the charging experience I find great is the 45W Super Fast charging that gets me back up to full in about an hour. There’s also support for 15W wireless charging with the Qi2.1 standard, which adds convenience for those who prefer a cable-free experience.

Overall, the battery experience is fantastic on the S25 Plus compared to the base variant.

Should You Buy the Galaxy S25 Plus?

The answer is subjective: If you’re coming from an older Android device that’s starting to show its age in terms of performance and battery life, the S25 Plus offers a substantial upgrade. However, if camera quality is your top priority, you might want to explore other options, or wait for the price to drop and then buy one.

Overall, the Galaxy S25 Plus is a great option out of the three new Galaxy S25 models.
